とある新月の夜、タムリエル大陸に向けオブリビオン(魔族)の侵攻が静かに始まった。不意をつかれた帝国軍は、モンスターたちに為す術なく征服されていき、帝国は滅亡の危機にあった･･･。
そして遂にはその魔の手が皇帝にも及んでしまう･･･
モンスターの攻撃にあい皇帝は地下牢にある抜け道から脱出を計ったが、逃げる途中に深手を負ってしまう。瀕死の状態で牢屋に辿り着くも、もはや逃げる力も残っていなかった･･･
皇帝は世界を救う鍵となるアミュレットを牢屋に投獄されていた一人の男に託し息絶えてしまう･･･。
